These accidents happen due to lack of maintenance and proper clothes dryer repair. One of the causes is insufficient airflow caused by improper installation. Another thing that needs to be mentioned here is that there should be absolutely no interior clothes dryer venting. This is especially dangerous if you own a gas clothes dryer. Also, the distance between the clothes dryers and exterior vents should be no longer then 60 feet. If you have duct that long, then use clothes dryer boost exhaust fan to make venting more efficient and safe. Also, the quantity of lint would be lowered with a good boost exhaust fan.
